Welcome! The COM Writing Center has one objective: to help you become a better writer. Our clients often see great improvement in their writing, and they continue to come back time and again. Please review our policies below.
Scheduling limits for the academic year:
- In-person appointments last 45 minutes. You can schedule 1 in-person appointment per day and 2 per week.
- Synchronous sessions last 30 minutes. You can schedule 1 hour of synchronous appointments per day and a total of 2 hours of synchronous sessions per week.
- You can schedule 1 asynchronous appointment per day and a total of 2 asynchronous sessions per week.
- Each student is limited to 1 hour of appointment time per day. You can schedule a combined total of 2 hours of appointments from different schedules each week. (Please note: Asynchronous and in-person appointments count as 1 hour each; synchronous sessions can count as either 30 minutes or 1 hour.)
Scheduling limits for the last week of the semester:
- To meet increased demand for appointments, The COM Writing Center limits each student to 1 hour of appointment time for the last week of the semester.
Additional policies:
- Please be on time for in-person and synchronous appointments. Tutors will wait up to 10 minutes for you to arrive, but if you have not begun the appointment at that point, it will be marked a "no-show."
- Please make sure to upload a paper before your asynchronous appointment starts; otherwise, it will be marked a "no-show."
- Please do not cancel appointments at the last minute. The system requires you to cancel an appointment at least 2 hours before the start time-- otherwise, it will be marked as a "no-show."
- Students with repeated "no-shows" will be restricted from making future appointments. Decisions regarding "no-shows" are at the discretion of the Writing Center.
